David Gwinnutt

Soho by David Gwinnutt Leigh and Trojan by David Gwinnutt Leigh in Fur Coat by David Gwinnutt
Gilbert and George by David Gwinnutt Siouxie by David Gwinnutt Gilbert by David Gwinnutt

Renowned for his evocative edgey black & white photographs of gay icons, Gwinnutt has become a chronicler of London's gay scene.  David's Pink Jack print is also available which represents his vision of a modern Britain where gay people are accepted and integrated in society.

Where some photographers use lavish sets, teams of stylists and intricate lighting to achieve their results  Gwinnutt works only with a hand held camera and available natural light. Working in this way allows for a spontaneity and directness. His pictures are never ‘set up’ and there’s a  rawness in them which suggests real time. His subjects are often photographed in an intimate, private setting,  allowing  us to  feel we are observing unguarded moments and seeing the ‘real’ person.
