Damien Hirst is, as you probably know, one of the most famous living artists in the world today. A product of the famous Goldsmiths in London, he was an integral member of the Young British Artists of the 1990's.

Death is a strong theme running through his work and he's most famous for his dead shark, sheep, and cow pickled in formaldehyde.

Ever since appearing on the scene, he has been subject of much enthusiasm and just as much detraction from members of the art community, but whatever your opinion is of him, it has to be admitted his work has shaken up the scene and has brought much media attention to the contemporary art world.
